Reporting from the field requires more than instinct
Journalists today face fragmented sources, tight deadlines, and audiences that demand both speed and credibility. Traditional training rarely covers verification under pressure or storytelling across multiple formats.
Xirvelo was founded in 2021 to address that gap. We work with reporters, editors, and content strategists who need structured methods for digital storytelling—from source evaluation to multimedia production. Our masterclasses focus on real scenarios: navigating misinformation, structuring investigations, and adapting narratives for different platforms without losing accuracy.
Why we built this differently
Verification frameworks
We teach lateral reading, reverse image search protocols, and cross-referencing techniques that hold up under editorial review. Students practice identifying deepfakes and evaluating source reliability using tools like InVID and TinEye.
Multi-platform adaptation
A single investigation can become a longform article, a Twitter thread, an Instagram carousel, or a podcast script. Our instructors demonstrate how to preserve factual integrity while adjusting tone and structure for each medium.
Ethics under deadline
Real newsrooms don't pause for philosophical debates. We simulate breaking news scenarios where participants must decide what to publish, when to wait, and how to correct errors transparently without undermining credibility.
Data-driven storytelling
Numbers alone don't engage readers. We cover spreadsheet analysis, chart selection, and narrative techniques that make datasets accessible—whether you're explaining election results or tracking environmental data.
Instructors with newsroom scars
Our teaching team has covered conflicts, investigated corruption, and adapted to platform shifts that killed entire publication models. They know what works because they've tested it under real pressure.
Linnea Bergström
Spent eight years tracking financial fraud across Eastern Europe for Dagens Nyheter. Now teaches document analysis and whistleblower communication protocols.
Takumi Fujimoto
Built interactive graphics for The Guardian's climate desk. Covers Python scripting for journalists, SQL queries, and designing charts that don't mislead readers.
Ife Adebayo
Launched three successful news podcasts and managed social media for Al Jazeera English. Teaches audio editing, script pacing, and platform-specific content strategies.
